a gruesome discovery. a decome posed skull found behind ali's bargain outlet in pasadena. the man who made the discovery called limits the search turned up other body parts. police aren't saying whether this is a murder case or not. staying in anne arundel county, people are left wondering why a woman abandoned her infant at a glen burnie church. the baby was fund by a pastor in training. the mother is charged with neglect of a minor and desertion of a minor. and there are new cameras. five new speed cameras will be up and working.

they are cromwell bridge near loch raven high school, southwest academy, patapsco and owings mills elementary school. for months you will only get a warning but tissues will be handed out after that. you've been outside. this should come as no surprise. 2012 is going down as the hottest year on record in the northeast. the average temperature, january through july was just under 50 degrees. new highs were set in several states including right here in maryland. we're seeing the fifth dryest since 1895. oh, yes. 2012 has been a wild one in more ways than one. drier than normal, hotter than normal. back-to-back overcast days across the state but no rain. this would be welcome rain in

many, many spots, especially on the eastern shore. the showers are fairly limited. you can see no official rainfall. 87, but the old record 105. thank goodness we haven't been threatening that one. the chances for rain look good. we'll talk about when we may see decent rain. this weather is having an impact thanks to the winter. a large part of maryland is now under a drought warning. abc2's don harrison is talking about how it's affect farmers. >> reporter: eastern shore farmer dale sums it up. they are under a drought warning. much of central maryland counties are under a drought watch. that affects frederick, carroll, baltimore, harford, howard and montgomery counties. it hasn't been a great year for farmers. >> most of my dry land corn is

for you, so far this year maryland is more than eight inches behind the rain for last year. the drought isn't just affecting the meern shore. the lack of wart has been driving up food prices all across the country. large portions of corn and soy bean crops remain in poor conditions. because of those crops to feed so many animals, egg and poultry prices are expected to rise followed by milk, pork and beef. a guilty plea from the suspect in the arizona shooting that killed six people and left congresswoman gabrielle giffords wounded. karen travers has the latest. >> reporter: today in a tucson courtroom, the community got a measure of closure. jared loughner entered a guilty plea for the january 11th shooting spree. six people were killed and 13 injured, including former

congresswoman gabrielle giffords. a federal judge ruled that loughner was competent to stand trial allowing him to enter the guilty plea calling the pain and loss incal cuable. cuable. another victim agreed. >> i came within a couple inches of losing my life at the safeway, and that kind of experience stays with you. >> reporter: today loughner's attorneys had to persuade the federal judge to allow loughner to enter a guilty plea. a doctor said he showed signs of depression. he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and he had been forcibly medicating him for more than a year. loughner said he was remorseful for his actions, especially what he did to 9-year-old christina

during a train derailment in north carolina. hazmat crews were called to the scene but none of the cars appeared to be liking. >> a massive fire destroyed two billings in california. it began in an abandoned warehouse and spread to the business next door. there were reports of 100 foot flames. when firefighters first arrived, it was moving so fast, the firefighters had to let parts of the building burn instead of fighting the fire from the inside. no injuries were reported. you know, it's one of our favorite treats with a space age spin. kraft is honoring the mars rover curiosity with a special oreo. it's open face and the classic cream is dyed red with the tracks on it. you won't see it in the snack

tom rivers, abc2 news london. >> all right. not a whole lot of precipitation but some showers south of salisbury fezling out -- fizzling out. here some showers out there at mouth of the potomac but statewide not much rain. what we have had, the overcast, turning gray skies. the weekend we had plenty of sunshine, just can't seem to find any to kick off this week. tomorrow we'll see some breaks in the sun. we have a stalled out front. as long last it's around we'll have not only the threat for hit and miss showers, but also we're going to continue to see, i think, generally cloudy skies ventura of the day. right now at bwi mostly cloudy, 86. winds are from the east at six

miles an hour. temperatures mid to low 80s. 85 in hagerstown. winds are from the east at 5. the humidity is high, no question about that. we have rather high humidity in just about all of maryland for the moment. all right. here are the showers to our south and across the center part of the state. quite a bit of active weather just south, just south of this stalled front. i have to say it's not that typical in early august to see a stationary front, a warm front pushing through, but this case, this front is shifting by 50, 80 miles at times. this is generating much more rain, so at least we're in the dealing with that, but in spots in maryland, particularly the eastern shore we could use additional rain. the trend show as hit or miss shower possible tomorrow but a better chance for hit or miss

today in the campaign speech mitt romney used the issue of welfare to try to go after the president. tory dunnan joins us from washington. this isn't something we've heard a lot about. what's behind all this? >> reporter: mitt romney is using this issue to go after the middle class vote. today he decided to unveil the new attack in the president's home state. >> america will have a choice. >> reporter: mitt romney's focus was a policy that would change the welfare to work programs. it would no longer require americans to receive work training if they get government assistance. he said it's unfair to middle class americans. >> the president has tried to reverse that accomplishment by taking the work requirement out of welfare. that is wrong. if i'm president i'll put work back in welfare. >> reporter: a corresponding new ad referenced the democratic president who originally signed
